Our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father (Galatians 1:3-4).
The whole world system is in open rebellion against God and all his delegated authorities (1 John 5:19). Not only this rebellion is not condemned, it is actually being taught.
The whole world is led in this rebellion by the one whom the Bible calls “the prince of this world” (John 14:30), that is, Satan, the devil, the ultimate rebel. He is at the head of the world system and will share his power with whoever will side with him (Luke 4:5-6). Night and day he is waging war against the Lord God and His saints (Daniel 7:25).
in light of this, we must take either the side of God, or the side of the world, and whichever side we choose, we will simultaneously become the deadly enemy of the other side (Matthew 10:36). He that is not with God is against Him, and he that is with God, is against the world (Matthew 12:30). There is no possible middle ground, for the world is in a state of open warfare against God (Ephesians 6:12).
Friendship with the world is enmity with God, for the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). Therefore, for a Christian to befriend the world is a matter of severe treason. When the war is over, all such traitors shall be condemned without mercy (Matthew 21:40-41, 22:7; Revelation 20:12-15; Hebrews 13:4; 1 Corinthians 6:9).
Because of this state of warfare, there can be no fellowship between true Christians and unbelievers (Ephesians 5:11), for they have nothing in common (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), and furthermore, they are at war with one another. There is no fellowship between light and darkness, nor is there anything in common between Christ and Satan; rather, they are sworn enemies, as are also their followers (Psalm 102:8, Psalm 101:3-8). The world cannot accept the true light of the Gospel (John 3:19-20), and neither can any true Christian endure evil men (Revelation 2:2).
Every follower of Satan will systematically rise up in indignation against anyone seeking to proclaim to them the Gospel of Christ (Matthew 24:9), and manifest great hatred towards them (John 15:19). Followers of Christ ought to be no less faithful in holding to the side of Christ in this battle, by not tolerating worldliness in any way (James 2:27).
How can two walk together except they they be agreed? (Amos 3:3) Clearly, they cannot. This is why no true follower of Christ can walk in the world without feeling disgusted, and filthy, or without desiring to return quickly to the fellowship of the other believers in Christ (1 John 1:6,7). Any so-called Christian who is able to walk with worldly people is thereby proving that they have a basic agreement with them. This means that they have taken the side of the world and Satan in this cosmic war, rather than the side of God. This is serious treason
We are as spies in enemy territory: our country is not on earth (Hebrews 11:13-16). Since we are not citizens of the enemy country we are traveling through (Hebrews 11:9), we have no right to get involved in any of their politics, nor should we feel concerned by any of their decisions (Colossians 3:2-3; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). None of these things have any bearing upon us, because we are not of the world (John 17:16). The whole world is warring against God (Daniel 7:21) and each other (James 4:1-2) because they don't know Him (John 17:25); we believe that God will win the war shortly (Daniel 7:27), put an end to this cosmic insurrection, and severely judge the rebels (Daniel 7:26). We therefore have no time nor interest for getting involved in these temporary things of the world, that will soon be destroyed (2 Peter 3:10-13).
